Who is this course for?

This course is for students who wish to enhance their understanding of the Spanish language and culture while improving their Spanish communication skills. It is highly recommended that students have completed Stage 1 Spanish Continuers courses. Enrolment without prior studies of Stage 1 Spanish Continuers courses is to be negotiated with an 91快活林 Language Leader.

What will I learn?

Students are expected to develop and apply their linguistic and intercultural knowledge, understanding, and skills to:

1. interact with others to exchange information, ideas, opinions, and experiences in Spanish

2. create texts in Spanish to express information, feelings, ideas, and opinions

3. analyse texts that are in Spanish to interpret meaning

4. examine relationships between language, culture, and identity, and reflect on the ways in which culture influences communication.

How will I be assessed?

School Assessment -70%:

  • Assessment Type 1: Folio, consisting of an oral interaction, text production and text analysis - 50%
  • Assessment Type 2: In-Depth study, consisting of an oral presentation in Spanish, a written response in Spanish and a written reflective response in English - 20%

External Assessment -30%

  • Assessment Type 3: Examination - 30%
    • The oral examination takes approximately 15 minutes and has two sections:
      • Section1: General Conversation
      • Section2: Discussion of the In-depth study
    • The 2 hour electronic examination, plus 10 minutes reading time, has three sections:
      • Section I: Listening and Responding
      • Section II: Reading and Responding
      • Section III: Writing in Spanish
